Hello, I’m Sarina. I have a passion for fashion, clothes and creating things with fabrics; and I write articles about all these here. In my spare time, you will find me buried in books—fictional and non-fictional—or in my sewing room, content among all the fabric stashes and UFOs (Un-finished Objects)
I love what I am doing here and never want to stop – learning about fashion and clothes, creating garments, exploring sewing techniques, doing embroidery, and using other fabric manipulation methods to decorate them. I continue to learn every day, record the processes, and share what I learn here.
Clothes are more than garments; they are statements of identity. Fashion is like wearing art, and clothes help us show our personality and feel special and confident. I am fascinated by the relationship between history, culture, and fashion, and by the stories behind clothing choices and designs. I have a deep appreciation for fashion as a reflection of cultural evolution.
And you will find that most of the articles I write are about these – fabrics, clothes, fashion and sewing projects for these.
I hope I can translate the fun I have with threads and fabrics through my posts and encourage you to create even more awesome stuff than you already do. Together, we can learn and make wonderful things. Thank you for wanting to.

Dear Sarina
Thank you for your article on boning. My problem is: all my skirts slide up at least 20cms. Even skorts do the same. I was thinking of stiffening them vertically in the length with plastic or fishbone. These could, however, damage the fabric which searches is way up. What would you recommend?
I do not know how it will hang when you add boning, isnt it a little stiff? And it can cut fabric. A horsehair braid along the hem can give weight to the hem. I have also read about gripper tape like this one – thesewingplace.com /snug-tex-waistband-gripper-3-row/
Absolutely fantastic tips and site! I’m really a beginner and had a few problems with Zips not working correctly. You have explained everything I needed to know/do, brilliantly and simply. Thank you very much Sarina.
I think what you are doing is brilliant. Thank you so much. Your blog is a great resource and you cover an incredible range of topics and possibilities. Your fan in Greece.
Loved this article, want a copy of it “Fabric Names in English (as a list)”. Can you send me a link, please. I would greatly appreciate it. Keep up the wonderful newsletter.
