    Anti-fashion style is something that drags my attention. When you are not in trend and when you are “out of box” now you can call yourself with this name with pride. Ankara style can be widely used in India as well since it has vibrant colors and waxy printed fabrics.

    Stick to what you know about. Im sure there’s plenty of things you can show and teach others without it being this sad, judgemental, ignorance display. Let someone else refer to actual styles in fashion. There’s for sure plenty to go about without being disparaging and this appalling about cultural and personal aspects of other human beings.

    I wear print tee tops with 3/4 length sleeves, very basic. I just need to lengthen the bodice with some lace trim. I would like to see a lot of samples of these tees with various trims.

    Hello!
    I don’t know if you’ll be able to reply back to me, but I was wondering what style you might think have.
    It includes:
    * Flowy — not baggy — tops
    * Either palazzo type pants or straight leg jeans
    * I do like the boho type of outerwear, I know that
    * High heels or dressy boots
    * Flowy dresses (mostly midi and long)
    * Silver jewelry, mostly
    That’s all I can think of! I would appreciate anyone’s comment! 😀

    Hi, nice article!
    Just wanted to say that it’s “chav” not “chave”. It was associated with shopping at JD Sports (tracksuits) and wearing Burberry and football T shirts as you said. It’s a word used to demonise the working class but nonetheless I agree, it defines a style category. I haven’t heard it much recently though.

    I cant believe E-girl isn’t up here, it’s very popular, LOTS of teens go through a stage of wanting to look like a E-girl.

      The ‘modest style’ isn’t always going to be wearing a headscarf or a human. It can, but to me at least, modest would be simple shirts, modest necklines and pant cuts.

    Wow this article is horrible. First off I’ve been a cosplayer since 2013, a lolita since 2014, and I just like sub fashion stuff. I found this article when looking for inspiration for a cosplay ironically. Now most of the mainstream examples they give are okay. But when looking at all the sub fashion looks I just can’t help, but be annoyed as the writer of this clearly rushed through the sub fashions. First off lolita isn’t just for women or people in their twenties. Top it off BOTH pictures for lolita fashion and the gothic sub set (which by the way is still a part of lolita so I don’t know why it needed a second category) are very wrong. Both of the image are of cosplays. The same issues occurs for the picture used for rave fashion. I don’t even attend raves outside of cosplay conventions, but I know that cosplay raves are a small sub section of rave culture. Yes Harley Quinn (the character if you didn’t know) has some inspo from rave fashion, but using a cosplay photo for it just isn’t correct. Then for flapper fashion they used someone in a costume vs retro which is right above it in a more accurate modern flapper outfit. For the image of kawaii fashion it’s just an Asian girl wearing a pastel shirt. Kawaii fashion cannot be summed up in one photo like that. It couldn’t in general, but if you’re trying to why not use something like fairy kei or decora or even lolita again or otome fashion or mori kei or like legit anything that actually is kawaii fashion?? Yes she looks soft and if maybe a better photo of her in the outfit were given it would work better, but from the one given it’s not really that ‘kawaii’ fashion/style. Goth is also pretty bad. Goth although is the best of the worst so take that as you will. She looks like a baby goth or more casual. Camp was mediocre, but there are a myriad of better pictures the writer could’ve used. For Garconne look the model really only matches the fact of wearing a loose fitting-ish outfit. The model doesn’t look androgynous at all. The model could be okay-ish for more modern versions. Now the descriptions are pretty bad as well. For lolita fashion and the gothic part the writer links to a bit of a better article. First off as a lolita we are not dressing like little girls THAT IS NOT THE POINT. And for the gothic part again I don’t know why this needed to be added. Gothic lolita can be as dark and even darker than some sub gothic looks. There was no point and I just really hated this one as I know the most about it and it’s also by far the worst descriptions given here. As an lgbt+ person I also really hate the description of camp as it ignores the fact of how big lgbt+ culture is in it. Camp was cultivated by use and to ignore that completely is rather ignorant to the style. No we aren’t the only people who make camp fashion or wear it, but like not including a single detail is just wrong. Goth, now I am not a goth, but I have lots of goth friends. NO it’s not just for teens and I’m gonna go on a limb here, but from what I know about it most people who wear it aren’t teens. Goth culture started with the music then went ahead and with the rest and that the writer didn’t mention the music at all is rather annoying. In fact lots of goth don’t consider people who only wear the style and don’t listen to the music not really goth. For me I can’t say much on that point. Either way how can you include vampires in describing goth, but not the core of being goth? Cosplay. The cosplay description is a dumpster fire. I am not the best at spelling or grammar, but I put an effort. The writer misspells anime and furries when writing. Also cosplay is like a fashion it’s costume. Yes you can use pieces from your cosplay in daily life or wear daily life clothing in your cosplay, but no one is like ah yes time to wear my costume every day. No one. It’s not how it works unless it’s they’re job to cosplay, but even then the costume is only worn for when they’re doing their job. Now there is also a debate whether furries are cosplayers or just fall into their own separate category. Personally I am the latter. Either way they shouldn’t be mentioned small space while gothic which is a sub part of lolita gets it’s own separate description. And again cosplay isn’t just for anime stuff, but most forms of media. I could go on longer, but for my own mental health I would rather not continue to rant about this cringe article. It looks like it had no proof reading and is honestly just horrible. My suggestion is either redo it and have someone fact check it for you who had knowledge or wear the fashions or just delete it. Like it’s spreading misinformation about both mainstream and sub fashions. As someone who wear sub fashion clothes it’s really damaging to have misinformation be spread around. This was one the top resulting articles when I was looking up stuff about fashion for my costume. Sorry for being rude it’s just rather offensive the lack of effort, time, or care put into this piece which is so easily accessible and one the top results.

    Hey dear, Thanks a lot for sharing such a great post on fashion styles. Love all the styles. Especially this one “Grunge style: This is a style that originated in the 80s ( as part of the grunge music) with a heavy emphasis on layering and oversized silhouettes with a casual nonchalant attitude. The staples of this style include leather jackets, flannel shirts, metallic jackets, ripped denim, crop tops, cool slogan t-shirts, combat boots, fishnet stockings, beanies, mom jeans, and slouchy sweaters. Baggy, torn and messy clothes are constants in this working-class fashion style.”

    Hi,
    I acutally need to correct the one who made this page ^^’
    I’m into all the JFashion and Cosplay things and your Lolita Style is acuatlly more a Harajuku Style 😉 you should just google lolita fashion and you get the right look for that 😉 and your Gothic Lolita Style is acutally also a Cosplay Style, Gothic Lolita is just Lolita x Gothic so it’s Lolita in dark 😀 this easy !!
    I came here jusr by chance and saw this so I’m sorry for saying all this but I want this to be correct for everyone 😉

      That style is commonly referred to as the ‘art hoe’ style/aesthetic. Which usually includes 80’s style clothes.
      Lots of stripes, layering t-shirts with short sleeves over t-shirts with long sleeves, tucking your shirt into your jeans and a Fjällraven Kanken bag (usually yellow). Yellow is a go-to color for this style but it can really include any bright/vivid colors.

    • Sarina

      Hi Anonymoose
      You are so right. Thanks for replying “An art hoe is basically a “tumblr” girl that’s go to outfit is a pair of mom jeans, most probably a yellow striped shirt or an oversized hoodie, fake round glasses that look like the ones of that girl in Mathilda, a pair of Van Gogh socks” www. urbandictionary.com

    I’m sorry but Lolita fashion has Nothing to do with Vladimir Nabokov’s Lolita. It’s a coincidence. Lolita fashion originated from Japan & has no relation whatsoever with the book. Please do more research on the origin

      Hi Yari
      You are right – though the western historic clothing seems to have influenced the lolita fashion which originated in Harajuku, Tokyo Japan and the fashion originated after the book was published, it may have nothing to do with the book – though there are many who mistakenly assume an association, like me. There are people who have researched extensively on a link between the book and the fashion.
      I agree that the cuteness of the Lolita fashion is opposite to the dressing with sexual innuendos in the book.

    This covers a lot of ground! Please remember, though, when describing formal office wear or business casual, it’s best not to refer to men and girls. Girls don’t attend meetings or office functions. Women do.

    • Hello

      Um, no offense but there aren’t a lot of styles in here that you can pull off without looking fake or like a doll, so if there is any other styles you know of that are similar to tomboy or grunge I’d like if you could add them. It’s just really hard for me to want to try a style because I don’t like wearing makeup or showing a lot of skin.
      I liked the article anyway, good job on it.
