A fashion capital city will serve as an inspiration for all budding fashion designers with its vibrant and creative energy and may have fashion schools teaching the students everything they want to excel in this field. And to top it all, the city will have a thriving population which is interested in fashion and welcomes the newest trends with open arms.

    Hi Sarina,
I need your advice on a skirt Im trying to adapt to my size.
The skirt is handmade and vintage from Mexico c1950.
It has two panels, each panel is a half circle. I need to expand the waist and my idea is to cut two more half circles and sew each half circle as side “panels”. In effect, the skirt will consist of 4 panels/gores all of which are half circles.
I have tried many ways over the years to increase the waist but the skirt has not hung well usually with the from and back longer than the rest of the skirt.
Can you forsee any problems of which I might not be aware?
    Thanks for your expertise.
    Regards
    Paula McLennan

      Hi Paula,
Have you thought about adding wedge shaped pieces (godets) to increase the waist, instead of going for the whole half circles which will increase its size too much? Read more on godets
