This pattern is very confusing from what to buy to how to sew it together. My friend and I tried to make this for her dad. We eventually gave up trying to understand the directions and fudged it.

I have seen this book – Fashionpedia – The Visual Dictionary Of Fashion Design – I guess, it does what you have in mind. Not posters though, it is a book.

Hello, thank you so much for the helpful information. I wonder if you know where I can buy posters or cards that have different types of sleeves, dresses, jackets, pants, etc? I’m having trouble sorting through all the different style types. And I would like cards or posters for guide and reference.

I’m using jeans strips to re-weave the seats and backs for outdoor folding chairs.

The small tie end pattern doesn’t make sense dimentionally. UY = 5” and VY =2 1/2” so UV should also = 2 1/2” but that wouldn’t make sense with SX and TZ both = 1”

I have never owned an invisible zipper foot, but have sewn a few invisible zippers before. It has been a while, so I don’t remember how I did it. I was looking for some good written instructions and finally came across this one in my search. The pictures are very clear and match with the written instructions. Thank you for taking the time to make this set of instructions.

In reply to Alma. I do not know how it will hang when you add boning, isnt it a little stiff? And it can cut fabric. A horsehair braid along the hem can give weight to the hem. I have also read about gripper tape like this one - thesewingplace.com /snug-tex-waistband-gripper-3-row/

Dear Sarina

Thank you for your article on boning. My problem is: all my skirts slide up at least 20cms. Even skorts do the same. I was thinking of stiffening them vertically in the length with plastic or fishbone. These could, however, damage the fabric which searches is way up. What would you recommend?

Thank you! Very helpful, as usual. Although I was surprised that you put the bit about drafting the back only after the front had been sewn; I would’ve preferred to have all the drafting stuff before the sewing instructions, instead of going back and forth. But that’s a minor niggle. Thanks, as always, for making this stuff simple and logical and providing plenty of pics! 🙂 Much easier to follow and browse than videos.

In reply to Ev Roth. When I first wrote the post I genuinely thought it is pressure foot and wrote everywhere that way. Later I came to know the real spelling and I thought I had corrected this. But obviously not ; Doing this now. thanks :)
